Is the major question mark in the market not the type of advertising that would be permitted for cannabis in an over-the-counter/package store/tavern legal regime? Is this concept not the flip side of the concern about "positive messages" of cannabis in the popular culture i.e. any message of less than complete abhorrence and disapproval endorses and glamorizes cannabis use? <br />NoahAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4888180128098566282.post-5924473928949461312009-08-13T10:47:44.340-07:002009-08-13T10:47:44.340-07:00Quote by blog authori: "SAMHSA estimates abou...Quote by blog authori: "SAMHSA estimates about 15 million monthly users. Between 700,000 and 800,000 are arrested for marijuana possession each year, or about 75,000 per month. The probability of being arrested, then, is 75,000/15,000,000, or 1 in 200 (these numbers are only approximate, but are close enough to be valid); a risk most people would probably ignore."<br /><br />Actually, the more accurate math for 2007 arrests and consumers is 872,720 past year arrests /25,085,000 past year consumers or 3.5 percent of American consumers that used during the past year were arrested, or one in 29 consumers. In my opinion that is still a lot less risky than selling crack on a run down street corner in a police ridden city The 25 million figure is a serious underestimate of the marijuana use in this country for many reasons. Among which, there are significant number of persons who are not U.S. residents who are busted everyday for marijuana offenses and I believe the FBI UCR includes them too. Also, persons who are already illegally living here are less likely to participate in a government household survey of other illegal activities.hello worldnoreply@blogger.com
